More than 12,000 faculty and staff of the University of the Philippines will get a one-time P15,000 Education Support Grant starting June 1, to help them cope with higher expenses at the start of the school year.
The UP said on Monday the grant was approved by the UP Board of Regents in its meeting last May 28.
“Full-time employees, whether permanent, temporary, contractual or casual, having served in the University for at least four months as of 30 June 2015 are also entitled to the grant,” it said.
More than 12,000 faculty and staff are expected to benefit from this educational assistance in time for the opening of class nationwide.
A memorandum issued by UP President Alfredo Pascual indicated the ESG will cover UP employees, including faculty, research and extension professional staff (REPS), and administrative employees.
Funding for the ESG will come from the internally generated funds of the constituent units (CUs) of the university.
UP has 58,000 students in 17 campuses across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
