The Glenwood Hot Springs Pool won first place in Sunset Magazine's first-ever Travel Awards in the Best Hotel Pool category.

The Glenwood Hot Springs Pool is at it again.

The latest accolade for Glenwood Springs’ biggest attraction is a top spot in Sunset Magazine’s first-ever Travel Awards in the Best Hotel Pool category.

“This pool will make your head swim,” Sunset’s description says. “At 100 feet wide by a staggering 405 feet long, the pool holds more than a million gallons of mineral water, cooled year-round to 90° to 93°. In the summer, guests can barrel down slides. In the winter, they can disappear into the steam.”

Other contenders for Best Hotel Pool included Alderbrook Resort & Spa in Union, Washington; Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Ko-Olina, Hawaii; and Tropicana Las Vegas Hotel Casino Resort.

The pool is featured in the June issue of Sunset Magazine, along with winners of the other categories. They will also be promoted at Sunset’s annual Celebration Weekend this Saturday and Sunday.

“We are elated at the news,” Jeremy Gilley, director of sales and revenue for Glenwood Hot Springs and the Spa of the Rockies, said in a press release. “Sunset is among the most reputable travel resources in the industry with a loyal readership; to be named a Best Hotel Pool by Sunset Magazine is a milestone achievement.”

In the past month, the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool has received significant media attention. In addition to the Sunset Best Hotel Pool award, it was runner-up in USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards for best hotel pool; and TripAdvisor, the world’s largest online travel site, honored the Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge with its Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame Award, which goes to properties that receive a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for five consecutive years.

In addition, the Giant Canyon Swing at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park was a finalist in the Best Family Fun category of Sunset’s Travel Awards, but Safari West in Santa Rosa, California, won out.

Spa of the Rockies was a finalist for Best Wellness Destination, but Waldorf-Astoria Spa at The Boulders in Carefree, Arizona, took first place.

Sunset’s contest included contenders from across 13 Western states, British Columbia and Alberta. Sunset Magazine is published monthly and focuses on travel, home design and outdoor living in the West. It has nearly 6 million readers.
