Jamia Milia Islamia University has received a record 1.49 lakh applications for 240 courses for the academic year 2015-16. The Jamia Milia entrance tests for 21 programmes will be conducted across 12 cities pan -India.

“The university received a record 1,49,148 applications for over 6,000 seats in the academic year 2015-16 registering a 25 percent increase in the applications received last year,” a Jamia spokesperson, Mukhesh Ranjan, said in a statement.

The online registration process for admission had commenced on April 13 and was scheduled to end on May 1. The deadline was later extended to May 4 because of the earthquake that hit Nepal and parts of India.

The applications are for over 240 courses such as M.Phil, postgraduate courses, undergraduate courses, diploma courses, etc. The largest numbers of applications are for B.Tech courses. Other courses in Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages and Natural Sciences have also witnessed an upsurge in applications.

The university also introduced four new postgraduate courses from this year.

Admit cards for all exams will be issued online. The date of display of the selected/waitlisted candidates list after entrance tests and interviews is July 12 and the last date for completion of admission formalities for selected candidates is July 14
