The new school, Liden & Denz Irkutsk, will open this year and will offer Russian language classes.

It will consist of six classrooms, and will host a total of 60 students at capacity.

“Opening in Irkutsk adds Siberia, a very attractive tourist region, to our portfolio of destinations”

Individual classes will be offered from April, while group classes will run in the summer period between the start of June and mid-September.

The centre will be run by Swiss national, Félix Baumann, who has 15 years of experience teaching foreign languages.

Accommodation options for students include hotels, studios and shared flats as well as host families in the town.

Walter Denz, owner and co-founder of Liden & Denz, said the company has been working towards opening this centre for a “long time”.

“Opening in Irkutsk adds Siberia, a very attractive tourist region, to our portfolio of destinations,” he said.

“Together with Félix Baumann, who will run the Irkutsk centre, we share a passion for quality language training and for the Baikal region as a trending destination.”

Germany, Italy and the UK are the top source countries for students coming to Russia to learn the language, according to Julia Voevodina, CEO of Liden & Denz, followed by France and Switzerland. Outside of Europe, students come from the US, Japan and Korea, she added.

Liden & Denz currently operates centres the Russian cities of St Petersburg and Moscow and opened another in Riga, Latvia in 2013. This new school marks the company’s first in Asia.
