GoldenEye, Jamaica, to welcome new luxurious beach huts

March 2016 will see the vision of Island Records founder, Chris Blackwell, take one step further with the completion of 26 new beach huts on the luxurious Jamaican resort of GoldenEye.

Designed by Jamaican architect Ann Hodges, the 26 freestanding one or two bedroom beach huts seamlessly merge outdoor and indoor living.

The octagonal design and private veranda, oversized louvered windows and high ceilings, eradicate the need for air conditioning, providing the perfect spot for relaxing from the Jamaican heat.

Custom-designed Jamaican furniture and African fabrics enhance the understated cool and relaxed Jamaican vibe for which GoldenEye is renowned.

The new phase in Blackwell’s expansion of GoldenEye resort extends beyond the new beach huts, with a seaside bar, rooftop terrace, pool area, snorkeling cove and bay-side beach, grill shack and drink stand.

Activities in the newly built Beach Hut area focus around Sha’been – a seafront bar with rooftop lounge and games room – and a whimsically designed freshwater pool.

Steps away is Snorkeler’s Cove, from where guests swim out to sea to explore GoldenEye’s coral reef and the Oracabessa Fish Sanctuary.

For kids the resort is a real treasure island with its very own jungle gym.

Room rates start from $400 per night.
