UIDAI says 210 government websites made Aadhaar card details public

More than 200 central and state government websites publicly displayed details such as names and addresses of some Aadhaar beneficiaries, the Unique Identification Authority of India has said. The Aadhaar issuing body added, in response to an RTI query, that it took note of the breach and got the data removed from those websites. It did not specify when the breach took place. UGC issues draft rules on awarding degrees online, Aadhaar likely to be made mandatory for the courses

In what might pave way for obtaining degrees online, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has drafted UGC (Online Education) regulations, 2017 and has sought public feedback till August 18. Once the regulations are in place, students and working professionals will be able to obtain a degree online, recognised by the UGC. Institutes will be able to offer online degrees in all fields, except engineering, medicine, dental, pharmacy, nursing, architecture and physiotherapy.
