After the first trio of Android One devices — the Karbonn Sparkle V, the Micromax Canvas A1, and the Spice Dream UNO — got announced in September last year, things have been relatively quiet, with crickets creating the background noise. Just as we told you yesterday, a new member of the Android One family was bound to join the ranks of the aforementioned affordable devices, and the device is already official.
Enter the Lava Pixel V1, the first Android One device since September 2014, which does not only boast some pretty nice specs for its price tag, but also has moderately compelling design. With a metal rear cover and side frames, as well as pretty thin bezels, the Pixel V1 is a phone that sets itself from the rest of the Android One gang.
Specs-wise, it boasts a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, a quad-core Mediatek MT6582 chipset clocked at 1.3GHz, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board storage (expandable via a microSD card), and a 2,650mAh battery. At the back, there’s an 8MP camera that created 13MP images thanks to software enhancing, while the front is adorned with a 5MP sensor that creates 8MP selfies. The Lava Pixel V1 has no LTE on board, since it is merely a 3G-enabled device, but at least users will be able to put two SIM cards in it.
Needless to say, this Android One device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and will be upgraded to the next version of the OS as soon as it’s unleashed to the masses later on.
The device is already up for grabs in India for a retail price of Rs. 11,349, which is roughly $175.
