Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL’s) customers now have all reasons to smile as the state-run telecom operator has launched its free roaming service today. The move will allow all its service users across India to receive incoming calls free of cost.
The step taken by BSNL will specially benefit people who have transferable jobs along with student community who have to change their mobile numbers very frequently as they often move from one place to another.
BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava said, “Now BSNL mobile customers will not need to carry multiple SIMs and handsets during roaming. They are free to talk as long as they want without worrying of any charges during incoming calls. In fact, it is like a dream of ‘One Nation One Number’ coming true.”
While addressing a press conference on June 2, Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had announced that BSNL would be launching free roaming scheme from June 15.
“As a public sector Telecom Operator our aim is not only to earn revenue alone but to provide best quality services to the masses in far flung & remotest areas at competitive prices. We always take such initiatives as a goodwill gesture,” said Shrivastava
