The director, CV Murti, sent a letter to the students asking them to not block the functioning of the administration of IIT Jodhpur and to call of the protest.
After the sacking of a faculty member, Ganesh Bagler, the students have been demanding the removal of CV Murti from his post. Bagler is a highly renowned scientist who is known all over the world. He is a scientist from CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology and a visiting scientist at the Max Planck Institute, Berlin.
Ganesh Bagler was on probation when he was asked to leave. He moved court so as to object his termination from the esteemed institute. The IIT spokesperson, Amar Deep Sharma, said that after a review from the review committee, Bagler’s services were found not to their satisfaction and hence he was removed starting April 9.
The issue was brought to the notice of Jodhpur MP Gajendra Singh Shekhawat by the faculty members who support the students in their protest. He said that he would discuss it with the students and faculty before talking to the Union HRD Ministry and he also said that he would try to sort out the issue at the earliest
