The HSC exam results were announced by the Odisha government on May 6. The students belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) have improved their performance this year. “Sevashram schools meant for ST and SC students have done good results this year compared to last year, which is a very good sign,” said the President of Board of Secondary Education, DP Nanda, as reported by TOI.
The pass percentage for ST students is 79.91 percent this year as compared to 76.43 percent last year. The pass percentage of SC students is 75.87 percent while last year it was 71.72 percent.
Schools run by the ST and SC Development Department, like Ekalavya Model Residential Schools, have posted excellent results in the examination. Out of the total 11 schools registered, nine have registered 100 percent success rate. Ekalavya schools posted a 99.24 percent success rate while the success rate in HSC in the State stood at 82 percent, as claimed by an official release.
The ST and SC Development Department said that out of the 685 students who appeared in the examination, 653 cleared the exams. Of these, 454 students secured first division, 157 secured second division and 42 students cleared with third division.
