The inaugural Travel Media Awards will take place Monday 9 November 2015 at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, London NW1.
The event has been created to celebrate excellence in travel media, journalism, broadcasting and photography in both the consumer and trade media, and will be judged by both senior travel industry figures alongside some of the UK’s leading travel writers.
Today’s travel media play a hugely influential role in the holiday or business travel decision-making process and the Travel Media Awards have been created in recognition of this.
The awards will cover a wide range of areas, from national newspaper travel sections (separate categories for tabloid and broadsheet) through to the increasingly influential travel blogging sector and travel customer magazines, to name but a few. There will also be a Travel Media Innovation Award.
Entry is open to all travel writers, broadcasters and photographers, making the event a true barometer of the travel media sector. Entry is open from June 2015 – check the website for the entry details.
The Travel Media Awards are owned and operated under a joint venture agreement between Travega and APL Media Limited. For the purposes of fairness and transparency, no travel titles by APL Media will be entered into the Awards. An advisory panel will be created as part of the awards.
Giles Harper, managing director, Travega, says: “We’re delighted to announce the launch of the Travel Media Awards, created in recognition of the significant role that the travel media play in promoting and selling both leisure and business travel; with so many different avenues available to the writer, photographer and travel broadcaster, the travel media sector is ever-increasing in size, and we look forward to establishing the event as a must-attend function in both the travel media and travel industry calendar.”
Matthew Jackson, managing director, APL Media, says: “We believe this is a real opportunity to celebrate what this sector can do to inspire consumers when it comes to travel. These awards will ensure we recognise those in the industry who really do make us want to get up and go…”
