Students of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) have a reason to rejoice! Their classrooms will soon have white projector screens instead of regular blackboards.
Thane mayor Sanjay Bhaurav More has devised a project to turn classrooms into a digital arena and use audio-visual tools to teach. This initiative has been taken to be at par with the swiftly growing private schools that use e-learning for advanced teaching.
To make grasping lessons easier for the students, classrooms will now have smart boards with pre-loaded syllabus in an audio-visual format. Benefits of the programme will be given to students in the primary and secondary level of school.
The first phase will involve teachers in the primary section introducing students to the curriculum available through the slides and videos. As a part of the second phase, senior secondary students might be given tablets with the syllabus pre-loaded in them.
The initiative mainly aims at reducing the workload among students in terms of the homework they take home with them. Taking this step will also reduce the weight of heavy bags comprising of textbooks and registers
