Skoda Kodiaq gets a 5-star safety rating by Euro NCAP

Euro NCAP recently tested four brand new cars for safety, including the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq. The Kodiaq, in fact, was awarded a 5-star rating in the stringent crash tests.

The Skoda was tested for adult occupant protection, child protection and pedestrian protection.  The inclusion of advanced driver assistance systems also played a key role in the full 5-star rating as the Kodiaq is equipped as standard with an AEB system that detects pedestrians as well as other cars.

The Kodiaq’s five-star rating continues Skoda’s recent good form: all recently tested Skodas have been rated as five stars.

The Kodiaq, as we know, has already gone live on Skoda’s Indian website. This is a new SUV from the Czech automaker and will be positioned above the Superb sedan. It is expected to debut with the same 2.0-litre diesel that powers the Volkswagen Tiguan. It produces 147bhp and around 300Nm of torque.

The Kodiaq will be produced at Skoda’s production facility in Aurangabad and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 25 lakh to Rs 32 lakh. It will take on the likes of the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the recently launched Isuzu MU-X.
