Mahindra & Mahindra, the popular Indian UV manufacturer, recently revealed the market name of its upcoming U321 MPV. To go on sale under the Marazzo moniker, the upcoming premium MPV will be slotted between the Scorpio and the XUV500, and will be a lot more upmarket offering than the Xylo. A new report reveals that the Mahindra Marazzo MPV launch will take place in the first week of September.

The Mahindra Marazzo MPV will be the first of the three upcoming Mahindra cars in India. Other than this MPV, the company also plans to launch the Tivoli-based S201 compact crossover and a Ssangyong Rexton G4-based premium SUV this year. The Marazzo, which will be the most upmarket Mahindra MPV to date, will feature a modern design, which, in the words of the manufacturer, is inspired by a shark. While the company is yet to reveal the upcoming MPV, several image teasers show that the Marrazzo will have a new-age Mahindra grille, boomerang-shaped tail lamps and elongated headlamps with LED DRLs. The MPV will also have a shark fin antenna.

On the inside, the MPV will offer 7- and 8-seat configurations. It will also offer a long list of features, at least on the top-end trim. Mahindra has revealed that the Marazzo will become the only vehicle in its segment to offer a roof-mounted surround-cooling feature.

Powering the Mahindra Marazzo MPV will be an all-new, 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is likely to offer a maximum power of 121 bhp along with a peak torque of 300 Nm. the motor will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission. There are good chances of the engine also getting an optional automatic transmission. Mahindra will also offer a new-age petrol engine. Details of the gasoline motor aren’t available at the moment.

The upcoming Marazzo premium MPV is the first-ever Mahindra passenger vehicle that has been designed and developed at the company’s North American Technical Centre. Also, Italian design house Pininfarina and a design team at Mahindra’s in-house design studio have worked together on the aesthetics of this MPV. The Marazzo will become a global product that will be sold in several international markets.
