Delhi University admissions have begun and every student is bursting with anxiety about how to find themselves a college of their choice.
The students who applied for admission through the sports and extra-curricular activities (ECA) faced a few problems while filling the OMR sheets while many were not familiar with the process of applying for a particular college.
To give a fair amount of chance to students with a creative bend of mind and experience in the field, Delhi University allows a 5 percent quota in admissions through ECA. Here we familiarise you with the process, for a better understanding:
Step 1: Availability of forms
The students eyeing ECA admissions should keep track of the college websites and notice boards as ECA forms are available to candidates on request only.
The forms for ECA trials are released independently by every college and its guidelines are not affiliated to the University in any way. A student can apply for one or multiple ECA’s in the form.
Step 2: Submitting certificates
The interested students are required to submit the photocopies of their certificates and portfolios’ at the time of application.
The rules differ for every college; a few colleges accept a student’s application, certificates/portfolios are the first criteria to be shortlisted while for some, portfolios are a mere formality.
ECA students are given a relaxation of 5-15 percent after the first cut-off, so the students should remember to avail this factor.
Step 3: Giving auditions
The process of taking an audition varies in every college in the University. Some auditions have an expert panel of judges, while some are conducted in the presence of just the President or the Principal.
Trials can also range from one round to three or more rounds depending upon the college and the number of applicants.
Step 4: Signing the ECA contract
The ECA contract lays down clear rules regarding the participation of selected students in their respective college societies for the entirety of three/four years. The failure to perform this duty would lead to their expulsion from college.
The students must give the auditions, since competition for admission through ECA is as cut throat as the offline admissions in the University.
LSR College received around 600 applications last year of which 35 were shortlisted and 7 were actually given admission.
For all the aspirants, work hard and shine through. The time is yours! India Today team wishes luck to all the students
