The results of the Madhyamik (secondary) Class 10 examination, conducted by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE), will be declared between May 24 and May 31, 2017. A WBBSE official has said that the results will be available at wbresults.nic.in and wbbse.org.
“We may have tie up with some other websites from where the examinees will be able to check their results and their names will be announced at the press conference on the day of the results,” he added.
On the issue of languages taught in West Bengal schools, the official clarified that students, irrespective of the medium of the schools they studied in or the boards they represented, would have to learn three languages, one of which would compulsorily be Bengali.
Giving details, state education minister Partha Chatterjee said this would be applicable for students from Class I to Class X. “Bengali will be one of the compulsory languages, either as first language or second language or third language. Say for example, someone having English as the first language and Hindi as the second language, will have to compulsorily learn Bengali as the third language,” he said.
