An Android software update is rarely a smooth transaction, and if you’re aMoto X (2013) owner on AT&T, you’ll be not-so-pleased to learn that your Android 5.1 Lollipop update is buggy to the point that the carrier has suspended it. Owners of the OG Moto X have slowly begun seeing Android 5.1 Lollipop these past few weeks, and AT&T customers would have been grateful for the invitation to the party. However, the carrier has now removed the software update momentarily, suggesting that some bugs need to be ironed out before users can continue updating

The notice on the AT&T website suggests that the pulling of the update is a temporary one, but if we consider how these things usually pan out, we cannot help but to feel a tad cynical. Here’s the notice right from the horse’s mouth:
UPDATE SUSPENDED

Effective July 20, 2015, the Android 5.1 (Lollipop) software update for the Moto X (XT1058) has been temporarily suspended. We apologize for any inconvenience and are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Motorola’s David Schuster has been keeping everyone in the loop with regards to software updates for its handsets, which seem to have been plagued with delays and technical hitches. According to reports, grievances with this update range from static speaker interference to issues with APN settings. Before this devolves into a saga, let’s hope that AT&T can work with Motorola to get the problem solved in a timely manner.
