If Xbox fans could add any one game to the Xbox One backwards compatibility list, it would be Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Treyarch’s 2012 shooter has officially outpaced Red Dead Redemption as the most-requested Xbox 360 game on Microsoft’s official backwards compatibility survey page, with more than 77,000 votes at the time of this writing.
Rockstar’s open-world Western game is trailing close behind with a little over 75,000 votes. Interestingly, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is back at fourth place behind Skyrim, despite that hugely popular petition calling for Activision to remake it for current-gen consoles. Granted, there is a big difference between remaking a game for a new system and just getting the old version to work on a new system – Activision says it may remake older Call of Duty games, if it can ever find the time and talent to do it well.
Xbox One Preview Program members can play 21 Xbox 360 games at the moment, and Microsoft plans to add more as the planned public rollout this holiday season approaches. Assuming Activision’s on board, it looks like Black Ops 2 will be a shoo-in by then.
