he Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau is participating in America’s week-long celebration of travel by highlighting the backbone of the area’s tourism industry—the People of Cabarrus.
On Tuesday, May 9, the nation’s official Travel Rally Day, the Cabarrus County CVB hosted a special event at the Visitor Center to thank the community’s hospitality and tourism professionals and also began sharing a People of Cabarrus video series featuring personalities who represent an entire industry of ambassadors.
“We’re fortunate to have a community full of talented, friendly people who create an outstanding visitor experience and keep our tourism industry thriving,” Cabarrus County CVB President and CEO Donna Carpenter said. “Our research shows that visitors return to the area because of the quality of customer service they receive during their stay in Cabarrus County. If not for the visitation that generates state and local taxes in Cabarrus County, each household would pay $467 more in taxes annually.”
The initiative is part of the 34th annual National Travel and Tourism Week, running May 7-13, which unites communities across the country to celebrate what travel means to American jobs, economic growth and personal well-being. The theme this year, Faces of Travel, shines a spotlight on the people that make up America’s travel industry.
