Facelifted Maruti Ciaz TEASED: New launch timeline revealed

Comments Off on Facelifted Maruti Ciaz TEASED: New launch timeline revealed

Maruti Suzuki has teased the facelifted Ciaz C-Segment sedan through a new ad for the NEXA range of car dealerships. The headlamp and front grille of the Ciaz were teased in the latest NEXA promotional ad. While the headlamps seem narrower and sharper than the ones on the current Ciaz, the front grille gets a honeycomb treatment.

The teasers indicate that the facelifted Ciaz will get a minor refresh rather than major design changes. Notably, the Ciaz is one of the many cars that Maruti Suzuki sells exclusively through the NEXA range of dealerships and even the facelifted model will follow the same approach.

Another key new detail about the facelifted Maruti Ciaz is its new launch timeline, which has been pushed back from August 6th to the middle of August. This delay is said to be due to the original launch date clashing with the launch date of a model from another car maker, said to be a key Maruti rival.

That said, the facelifted Ciaz is less than a month away from launch and dealers are soon expected to take bookings for the same. As for price and positioning, the facelifted Maruti Ciaz is likely to continue at the same price levels as the current model. It will continue to rival C-Segment sedans such as the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Toyota Yaris.

The current Ciaz is one of the best priced C-Segment sedans, and the new model is likely to continue in the same vein. The facelifted car will get a brand new 1.5 litre K-Series petrol engine with boosted power and torque numbers, which now go up to 106 PS-138 Nm. The new engine will get 5 speed manual and 4 speed torque converter automatic gearboxes. The new petrol engine will also get the SHVS (Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System) micro-hybrid unit, making it the segment’s first hybrid car. The facelifted Ciaz will continue with the 1.3 litre Fiat Multijet turbocharged diesel engine with 89 Bhp-200 Nm, and a 5 speed manual gearbox.
