The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced will be held on 21st May and around 1.5 lakhs students will be selected from the ones who had appeared for the JEE Main in the month of April, both in the offline and online exams. While the JEE Main can be tough, the JEE Advanced is a nail biter indeed. After all, it is the deciding exam for those who will get admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT).
The JEE Advanced is said by many to be one of the toughest competitions exams in the country ever but there are some who say otherwise. The latter party believes that the exam is capable of being beaten with proper planning and execution during preparation. In fact, any exam can be hacked by studying the previous years’ patterns. The IIT JEE, for instance, has over 11000 concepts to be learned. While it may be possible for the exceptional few, it is hardly doable for the majority, keeping in mind that the IIT JEE is not the only exams they’ll be preparing for in that particular time. What experts have done is analyse the paper structure and pattern over the years and identify the frequent occurrences and gaps to help narrow down the scope of studying for the students. After this, planning and structuring a study method is made simpler and more realistic.
While preparing for JEE Advanced, you should keep in mind that your study plan should be structured in such a way that your scores improve from revision to revision, and not just focus on making the cutoff. There are certain tips you need to keep in mind if you are keen on how to improve score in JEE Advanced 2017.
The first thing you need to get right is the syllabus. make sure you are prepared for nothing less, to say the least. Identify the most important chapters and topics so you know exactly where to start and where to focus. Play to your strengths and work on your weaknesses in that order. Get the basics right. For instance, when it comes to formulas, focus on the approach rather than just simply memorising it all. Without the knowledge of the approach, after memorising so many formulas, you are bound to forget most of them. Practice JEE Advanced previous years’ papers like they’re your only way out. pay attention to the frequently asked chapters and concepts. That will give you an insight as to what is most likely to come in the actual paper too. Do not brush off online mock tests. They are a game changer when it comes to preparation for competitive exams. They help you improve your test-taking skills such as time management, question selection, etc.
When all is said and done, you will be grateful that you paid attention to the minutest of details in the exam paper. So make sure you leave time for revising the answers you have given. The smallest of mistakes can cost you a few marks but a single mark can cost you thousands of ranks! So, prep up!
