Jurassic World was released last month and met huge commercial success. So much so, in fact, that it is now the third highest-grossing movie of all time.
According to Variety, the film has surpassed The Avengers, the popular Marvel movie from 2012. Jurassic World has now made over $1.52 billion total. It passed $614 million at the American box office, only the fourth film ever to cross $600 million.

The top two highest-earning films, Titanic and Avatar, made $2.18 billion and $2.79 billion lifetime, respectively. Although it’s unlikely that Jurassic World catches up to these films, the movie is still in theaters in some markets. Its total will still rise a little more.
The studio behind Jurassic World, Universal, also released Furious 7 this year, which made $1.51 billion. That puts it only about $10 million behind The Avengers.
The top five highest-grossing movies are:
- Avatar ($2.79 billion)
- Titanic ($2.18 billion)
- Jurassic World ($1.52 billion)
- The Avengers ($1.52 billion)
- Furious 7 ($1.51 billion)
Jurassic World is the follow up to Steven Speilberg’s Jurassic Park series. It features Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
