Pearland community partners, hospitality professionals, and business leaders celebrated National Travel and Tourism week at a Travel Rally Picnic to honor industry professionals on Friday (May 8).
The event, sponsored by The Ivy District, was held at the Pearland Town Center pavilion.
“Travel and tourism is one of America’s largest industries and this especially holds true in Texas,” said Convention and Visitors’ Bureau (CVB) Executive Director Kim Sinistore.
“Locally in Pearland, during 2013, travelers spent $127 million and generated tax revenues of $3.2 million, which includes sales tax and occupancy tax, and directly supports 1,060 jobs. We’re very proud to be part of this thriving industry and represent Pearland as a destination in Texas,” said Sinistore.
Several of the Houston Texans Cheerleaders were on hand for photos and performed a routine for the crowd.
Gringo’s Mexican Restaurant provided a delicious buffet and Nothing Bundt Cakes provided dessert. Kroger provided a pear-shaped cake. Music was provided by Higher Note DJ Services.
“The Ivy District will be a dynamic mixed-use, walkable center complete with high-end retail and restaurants, state-of-the-art offices, a conference center, modern hotel, upscale residential and 18 acres of dedicated green space.
