Xiaomi has unveiled its new Mi product today called the Mi TV 2S, which is said to be thinnest ever Mi TV manufactured by the company. The device is available in two variants namely a Standard edition priced at CNY 2,999 (approximately Rs 30,600) along with a Cinema edition at CNY 3,999 (approximately Rs 41,000).
They will be available in five color variants for its aluminium frames namely gold, silver, pink, blue and green. Both devices will be available starting July 22 in China. However, Xiaomi has not revealed any details on if and when, it will be launched in India.
Xiaomi made the announcement in China and posted all the details on MIUI. In terms of specifications, the Mi TV 2S sports a 48-inch Samsung 4K panel with 85 percent NTSC color gamut coverage. It is a mere 9.9mm thick (almost as slim as the Mi4 smartphone) and features a metal finish towards the back. The Cinema edition of the 2S comes with a separate speaker system which includes a horizontal sound bar along with a dedicated subwoofer. The speaker system supports Dolby Audio as well.
The new Mi TV 2S is powered by an MStar 6A928 chipset with a quad-core Cortex-A17 CPU and Mali-T760 GPU along with a 2GB RAM. It includes an internal storage of 8GB and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It also supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 LE. The Mi TV 2S includes HDMI 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports.
In other features, the Mi TV boosts a 4K lossless display quality and offers better clarity and true colours than televisions made by Sharp, Sony, and Samsung, as claimed by Xiaomi. The Mi TV 2S also comes with a special power plug that is smaller than a match box which has been developed in partnership with Volex.
