Volvo has launched their most affordable product in the Indian market – the XC40. The all-new SUV is priced at Rs. 39.9 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi. The new SUV will go against the likes of BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class and the Audi Q3 in the Indian market.
While the car is available in many different variants in the international markets, in India only a single R-Design trim is available. The single variant of the model is filled with a long list of equipment. The car gets a distinctive front grille similar to all the new-age Volvo SUVs with Thor’s hammer LED DRLs integrated into the headlamps. The R-Design gives it a sporty element with the two-tone paint scheme, blacked-out grille, smoked headlamps and blacked-out roof and A-Pillars. These features are standard with all the colour schemes.
The SUV gets sharp design elements all over. It gets signature waterfall tail lamps and a very appealing overall stance. The XC40 looks like a proper SUV, which is one of the attributes that most of the rivals in India lack. The XC40 R-Design has enough reasons to turn heads on the road.
On the inside, the XC40 gets a bright orange upholstery that can be changed to black on customer’s preference. The dashboard gets a huge 9.0-inch Sensus touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, vertical A/C vents, faux-stud trim, leather-suede mixed seat covers and a panoramic sunroof. The SUV also gets a lot of safety equipment. It gets radar-based driving-assist and safety assist system that controls the adaptive cruise control, automatic collision avoidance and emergency braking. None of the cars in the segment offer a similar list of safety features in India.
The XC40 comes powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that develops a maximum power of 188 Bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque. It gets an 8-speed automatic transmission and an AWD system. The XC40 is the most powerful SUV in the segment and sure is the most luxurious one too.
