However, it has been observed that most candidates usually face difficulties while attempting the RC section and guess what? A lot among them end up getting poor grades. RC is one section where students need to practice early. Since language acquisition is an ongoing process, you have to start practicing it before.
Following are the key points that will help you to score well in RC section
Build a Good Vocabulary
There is no arguing with the fact that words are the foundation of a language and without them, there cannot be language. Before you start preparing, you need to build up a good vocabulary. If you want to score good grades in the RC section, it is important for you to decode the passage later but first decode the words. To build a good vocabulary, make sure you are reading the newspaper and picking up the words that you are unfamiliar with. You could maintain a small diary of difficult words and this would help you to remember them. Generally, you should keep an eye on new words all the time and try to retain them in your head.
Focus on Understanding Passage
To score well in the RC section, you need to understand the passage well. For those who don’t know, the introduction to the passage carries the main idea of the passage. All the subsequent paragraphs are associated with the main idea in some form or other. If you start preparing a map of ideas in the order in which they appear, it will help you to understand the passage better and at the same time, remember the important points once you start attempting the questions.
Analyze the Questions
In the MBA entrance examination, the RC section can throw up different kinds of questions, but it is quite possible to guess them if one looks at the mock tests and previous year question papers. Some possible questions that can be asked are based upon Logical Reasoning, Inference based, Vocabulary, Re-arrange Central Idea, Tone and style, etc.
Be Fast & Accurate
While attempting the RC section, it is important for you to read as fast as you can and comprehend the passage accurately. This will help you to solve the solutions right away. While preparing, it’s quite important for you to practice fast before the exam, so you can ready to anticipate and deliver. Always keep this in mind that how easy or hard you find the passage will depend on how fast you read the passage and derive the right interpretation.
Prepare For the Best
Last but not the least, you need to develop the habit of reading dense passages. But, this cannot happen directly in the exam. First of all, you need to solve a few passages while you are preparing. This will help you to build the temperament to go through these complex passages and solve them at the earliest.
If you have a knack for the English language, reading comprehension can be a boon and will help you to prepare well.
