Weekend trips are fun, but they can also wind up being pretty expensive. Hotwire recently took a look at historical booking data for hotels to determine when the most affordable weekends are to travel in 2020, and released a list of the most affordable weekends, hotel-wise, for each month.
Actually surprising: some of those affordable hotel stays actually fall during holiday weekends.
Here’s its list of predictions for the cheapest weekends to travel:
•January 31 – February 2 (Groundhog Day)
•February 28 – March 1 (Leap Day)
•April 10-12
•May 8-10 (Mother’s Day)
•June 19-21 (Father’s Day)
•July 3-5 (Fourth of July)
•August 21-23
•September 4-6 (Labor Day)
•October 30 – November 1 (Halloween)
•November 27-29 (Thanksgiving)
•December 18-20
Like all of the “best” lists, your mileage may vary depending on where you’re traveling. These weekends are also taking into account the rate for an entire weekend (Fri-Sun). So while these weekends might average out to the best rate, they still might have a night or two in them that’s on the pricey side—it’s just offset by another night that’s a steal.
All that said, if you’re planning on going on a few weekend getaways in 2020, you might want to consider scheduling a few of them on these weekends, and booking soon. The farther out you’re able to make that hotel reservation, the more affordable it’s likely to be.
